From new to existing patients of Smiles & Co., here's the information you need!

First Visit

At Smiles & Co. Pediatric Dentistry, we follow the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommendation that children visit a dentist by age one, or within 6 months of the appearance of the first baby tooth. Establishing a dental home by age one will allow you and your child the opportunity to develop a trusting relationship with us and build healthy dental habits to last a lifetime. Your child will become acquainted with the dentist and office staff at an early age, enabling them to become more comfortable in the dental office setting as they mature. It is our goal to ensure that your child has a positive dental experience at each and every visit to our office, and that you are provided with valuable information to help your child have a healthy smile for years to come.

What To Expect At The First Visit

The first visit will begin with a review of our child's medical and dental history, followed by a gentle examination of the teeth, jaws, gums, and oral tissues. Our staff uses age appropriate language and explains all procedures in detail, in effort to help your child feel more comfortable.

Education

Because we place such a high emphasis on prevention, proper tooth brushing and flossing technique will be demonstrated and discussed with both you and your child at every hygiene appointment. Depending on your child's age, we will also discuss topics such as bottle/sippy cup use, oral habits, diet, trauma prevention, sealants, and dental development/orthodontics.

* You will need to complete the link separately for each child that has an appointment. Please do not hit the "back" button or your information may not be saved.  If you make a mistake, no worries, we can fix it when you arrive. Thank you!

Insurance Accepted

Your insurance company has a contractual relationship with you, through your employer. Please bring a copy of your current dental insurance card to your child’s appointment and make every effort to advise us of any changes to your insurance prior to your scheduled appointment.

As a courtesy, we will be pleased to file your dental insurance claim form electronically to ensure that you receive the benefits that you are entitled to. We will require payment on the day of service for the estimated amount that your insurance is not expected to pay. We will assist you in estimating what your insurance will and will not cover, but cannot be held responsible for how your insurance company handles the submitted claim.

Our team will always be available to help answer any questions you have. For more information about our financing options and insurance that we accept, please visit our office or contact us at (407) 984-4890.

Financial Policy

Payment for treatment is due at the time of service. A detailed treatment plan will be provided to you for any treatment needs your child may have. For your convenience, we accept payment by cash, debit and most major credit cards.

Information on third party financing options, such as Care Credit, is available for extensive treatment plans.

Appointment Policy

We will make every effort to schedule appointments at your convenience, when time is available. However, we do encourage morning appointments for young children, or those that are overly anxious, as they tend to be well rested and therefore, have a more pleasant experience. In the event that your school-aged child must be seen during school hours, please remember that a dental appointment is an excused absence from school.

Your child’s appointment time will be reserved exclusively for them, and we will make every effort to see them on time. If you must cancel an appointment, we kindly ask that you notify us 24 hours in advance, so that another child in need may be accommodated. We reserve the right to charge a broken appointment fee if sufficient notice is not given.

We recognize that dental visits can be challenging, and we respect your concerns. To that effect, we welcome you to accompany your child through their dental visit. However, for the safety and privacy of all our patients, we ask that only one parent be present in the treatment area, and any other children who are not being treated must remain in the waiting room with another adult.
